Ardgowan Club's Umpires‏

Ardgowan club are fortunate to have five umpires now, in Ian Halliday, George Mcwilliam, Hazel McEwing, June Malloy and myself and this is the start of the season when we are at our busiest, starting with the WSBA and SBA matches within the district and without.

On Saturday I was at Ferguslie Bowling Club to umpire the ladies in the 1st round of the fours and the senior fours.

The greens were looking great and there was some excellent play going on and at times it was quite hectic as the other umpire was stuck in Singapore and there was no replacement and on a couple of occasions I was needed on three rinks at the same time, ah well such is umpiring,
I was well looked after by the clubs lady president Caroline and filled with tea, coffee, and biscuits and helped by the Greens convenor Jackie to set out the greens.

The games was visited by Catherine McFarlane, District 16's Secretary and then she was off to visit all the other clubs who were hosting WSBA competitions.

I will no doubt see Catherine again next week when I go to Johnstone for some more WSBA matches.

Perhaps we will hear from some more of our umpires when they are doing duties around the town
