Gents Open Triples

Ardgowan Club recently held their annual Open Gents Triples competition which was once again sponsored by P B Wright and Sons.

Over 100 bowlers descended on the Ardgowan Club and as well as the local clubs, teams from Ayrshire, Argyll and Dunbartonshire all took part in the tournament.

Despite the showers during the morning play, the Ardgowan greens brought the best out in the players and at the end of the round robin groups 8 clubs had battled through to the knockout stages

The ties in the quarter finals were close; both semi finals saw
Ardgowan and Victoria compete against each other for a place in
the final.

The final was contested by Ardgowan triple John Lindsay,
Ian Halliday and Robert Currie (skip) and Victoria’s Jim Sheriff,
Robert Turner and Tommy Leisk (skip).

The team skipped by Tommy Leisk were victorious in a close
final by 4 shots to 3 shots.

At the close of play, Ardgowan President Brian Lindsay thanked
the competitors for making the tournament such a success; he
also thanked P B Wright and Sons for their generous sponsorship
and invited Helen McNeil of P B Wright and Sons to present the
winning team with their trophy.
