Ardgowan's New Juniors Receive Polo Shirts

MEMBERS of the Junior Bowling Section of the Ardgowan Club recently received their new club polo tops, which are sponsored by P B Wright and Sons.
This section is new to Ardgowan and, as well as general plays, the juniors meet on a Saturday morning and a Tuesday afternoon for coaching.

The juniors were introduced to bowling as an after-school activity during 2008 through Inverclyde Active Schools.

As well as the generous sponsorship from P B Wright and Sons, the juniors also received a grant from Sport Inverclyde to help with the purchase of equipment.

Over the last few weeks we held a Singles & Pairs completion on the Carpet. This was played with great enthusiasm and all the games were very tight.
 
The Pairs competition was won by Gordon McCracken & Samantha Lawson and the runners up were John McAuley & Erin Mills.

This competition was played as a round robin. It was not until the last game was played that the winners were known.
 
In the singles the members were put into two groups with the 1st and 2nd in each section going through to the Semi Finals.
 
The First Semi was Between Erin Mills & Nicol Robertson with Nicol winning the game. The Second Semi was between Bethany Patton & Samantha Lawson the Samantha winning this game.
 
The Final was between Nicol and Samantha. This was a very close and exciting game with some tremendous bowls being played and the eventual winner was Samantha.
 
The Juniors are now looking forward with great anticipation to playing once more outside.
